Master of Business and Science Program, Rutgers University

Congratulations to Lillia for her acceptance into the master’s program at Rutgers University. Lillia’s studies will concentrate in personal care science. “I have always been interested in formula development and the mechanics behind everyday personal care products such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, cosmetics, skincare, etc. People are always concerned about what goes into their bodies form the food they consume. However, not many people pay attention to the personal care and hygiene products that they put on their bodies, especially considering that the skin is the largest organ of the body and absorbs ~60% of the products topically applied. So that is what I will be studying in graduate school!”

As part of her time at Georgia State, Lillia researched under Dr. Jenny Yang for three semesters. Lillia was part of the calcium imaging group and learned how to express and purify fluorescent calcium-based biosensors, specifically green fluorescent protein. She was also a Supplemental Instruction Leader for Calculus I for Life Sciences for three semesters. In her free time, Lillia enjoys the outdoors: rock climbing, hiking, biking, you name it. She also enjoys art and drawing. An all-around individual indeed.
